My name is Linda Hynson. I am a woodturner and the founder of Dancing Spiral Woodturning.
I have been surrounded by domestic and exotic hardwoods, woodworking tools and the beautiful boxes my husband, Ray Jones, has been making since 1982. Stepping into the shop and making my own work has been fun, rewarding and just a little bit addicting.
I love working with wood and am amazed by the seemingly endless variety of colors and figures that nature provides. Some woods feel "soft" and easy to turn, while others, particularly burls, can be more challenging. Some woods give off a fine dust when turned, some give off chips, and still others give off beautiful curls or ribbons (in spirals, no less!). Colors range from blacks and browns to purples and yellows. Due to the many colors of woods, the combination of heartwood and sapwood and the amazing figure in some of the woods, each turned piece is a revelation.
